Paula Korva, born 1978 in Kemijärvi, studies documentary film making at ELO Film School Helsinki. Before film school she studied economics and worked as a financial journalist. Hypermarket Nation is part of her MA course at ELO Helsinki Film School.
Brothers Ingvar and Stig Palmén run a small grocery store in the suburbs of Helsinki. The store has persisted through six decades but is now faced with fierce competition from huge hypermarkets. How will they survive when cheap prices lure people to drive further and further for grocery shopping?
